01Regulatory basis
Bihar's rooftop solar metering framework is governed by BERC regulations, amendments and current DISCOM implementation instructions. Capacity limits, settlement, ownership and technical conditions must be checked for the consumer category and application date. Older summaries should not override the current official process.
02Before installation
Verify consumer name, sanctioned load, phase, meter type, roof rights and proposed capacity. Submit the prescribed application and obtain feasibility or approval before procuring equipment where required. Coordinate module/inverter compliance and single-line diagram with the approved proposal.
03Documents
Prepare recent bills, identity and address proof, ownership/consent, application acknowledgement, vendor agreement, equipment certificates, invoice, SLD, earthing and protection test results, plant photographs, serial numbers and bank details if required for subsidy. Keep originals and digital copies.
04Inspection and operation
The utility/authorised agency inspects the installation, protection and metering arrangement. Resolve observations, complete the agreement and meter change, then retain commissioning evidence. Monitor first-month generation and meter import/export readings to catch configuration or billing issues early.
